it's all about the money, honey!
Anise Tatlin is the energetic, Tokunaga-toting little girl of much doom. Guy didn't meet Anise until the party reunited with her at Kaitzur. As such, he was a bit confused when they spoke of her (and when they reassured him that she'd be fine) and wondered what sort of girl she was. Anise's somewhat devious/playful nature can make life hard for poor Guy as she
is always teasing him. She is, however, integral to both discovering the depth of Guy's phobia and helping him to overcome it. The party first realizes that Guy's phobia is serious when Anise jumps on him, after the freeing Luke from the fonmachine at Choral Castle. Guy, distraught at the sudden contact, threw her off of him and started shaking.
Jade realized then that Guy's phobia went beyond simple fear. Later, she became the first girl Guy touched without freaking out (too much).
DEFINING MOMENT: TATAROO VALLEY
Guy and Anise don't really have many deep, relationship building scenes; however, he does save her life at Tataroo Valley. That's gotta count for something, right?
The party was on their way to operate the Tataroo Valley Sephiroth Tree when Anise spotted a blue gorgonhod swallowtail and immediately began scheming on how to catch it. In her excitement, she lost balance near a cliff and was barely hanging on.
Tear was the first to rush to Anise's aid, although she wasn't strong enough to pull Anise up. That's when Guy rushed over, forgetting his fear of women, and helped Tear pull Anise to safety. Everyone remarks about how unusual it was for Guy to help and he replies that "I wasn't scared."
Guy: I'm really glad you weren't hurt because of me, Anise
Anise: Hee hee, I'm a little moved. ♥ Jade then proceeds to remind Anise that Guy was a Malkuth nobleman, and that he probably has a large fortune set aside in the Imperial treasury. Anise then remarks that Guy can propose to her anytime and Guy "passes" on the offer.
Anise: Guy! ♥ You can propose to me anytime. ♥
Guy: ...I think I'll pass.
RELATIONSHIP POTENTIAL: JUST FRIENDS? LOVERS?
This is the part where Guy's romantic (or otherwise) potential with Anise is explored. Expect to come across lots of my opinions on the matter.
JUST FRIENDS: This is probably the most "canon" (if you're into that sorta thing) between the two as there isn't much (read: any) evidence in the game to suggest otherwise. Anise and Guy share a bond, yes, but it's not a romantic one. You can't travel with someone for over a year and *not* develop some sort of close relationship with them.
Guy & Anise are no exception.LOVERS: GuyxAnise is an unusual combination to say the least. Guy is easily tired out by Anise's energetic, somewhat childish approach to everything and so a more mature Anise would be needed for any sort of serious relationship to develop. However, if you consider the fact that Anise *was* the first girl
Guy touched without being scared, then it is possible to infer from that a sort of connection between the two that could be translated as romantic. He saved her from death; she was the first step towards recovery for him. Thus, what seems like a crack!OTP in-game can be developed into a believable combination post-game.
