In Tales of the Abyss, like all the Tales games before it, characters are given titles throughout the game. Guy has a total of 16 titles and below is the complete list of them.

GUARDIAN
A swordsman and servant who supports his master -- at times in the open, at times from the shadows.
Effect: Heals 2% TP every 15 seconds while standing still.
Obtain: Guy automatically starts with this.

FRIEND FOR LIFE
There is only one Luke to him. The proof lies in their time together.
Effect: Cures Posion status while standing still.
Obtain: Guy receives this after reuniting with Luke in Aramis Springs after he cuts his hair.

MALKUTH NOBLEMAN
An oprhan with a sad past whose roots are traced to House Gardios of the Malkuth Empire.
Effect: Cures Seal status while standing still.
Obtain: Guy receives this after explaining why he attacked Luke under the effects of the Curse slot.

BEST FRIEND
Laugh together, cry together, and at times fight each other. This is true friendship.
Effect: Gain 1 OverLimit point every 15 seconds while standing still.
Obtain: Guy receives this after Luke talks to Tear about going to the Tower of Rem (2nd time).

SIGMUND TACTICIAN
The objective of battle is not to defeat the enemy. It is to survive. This is the essence of Sigmund style.
Effect: Heals 2% HP every 15 seconds while walking/running.
Obtain: After 300 enemy encounters, talk to Miyagi at the Baticul dojo (note: must read all tutorials first).

HARD WORKER
You give your all in every task that you undertake. This title is for a tenacious person like you.
Effect: Decrease item cost by 20% at Din's Shop.
Obtain: After the group decides to go to Feres Island, fly to Engeve and enter through the west entrance. Speaking to the farmer in the nearby field reveals that he needs seeds. Head to the rear entrance to Rose's house and talk to man inside to find the names to the needed seeds: Lanakear (search point #22) and Phen (#19). Once you have them, return to Engeve and first talk to man inside Rose's - then give them to the farmer.

COOL CHEF
Even if you're not serious, you still manage to cook up any recipe with flair.
Effect: Cooking Success +5% for Guy.
Obtain: Master all the recipes with Guy.

BLADE MASTER
Grasp your future with this sword. This title is for the swordsman who harbors a fighting spirit.
Effect: Changes costume.
Obtain: After entering Eldrant (and before fighting the final boss), talk to Peony at Grand Chokmah.

AQUATIC APE
S.O.S! They're calling to me! Leave those sea accidents to me.
Effect: Changes costume.
Obtain: After the Absorption Gate, complete the Rappig Hunt side quest by talking to Peony (in his chambers) and then looking for his lost rappigs. Afterwards, go to the Keterburg Hotel and talk to the receptionist at the front desk. You get the title after the cutscene.

NAUGHTY DEVIL
You would never be called this unless it was a joke. The title itself is a mystery. Is it mysteroius to defy mystery?.
Effect: Lets you walk around the Spa as Luke.
Obtain: Go into the Keterburg Spa a second time.

GOOD SPIRITS
Sometimes, a bartender can heal what ails you just by listening. This one's for you. On the house.
Effect: Changes costume.
Obtain: After the Absorption Gate, walk to the bar/harbor area of Grand Chokmah to trigger a scene ending with Guy carrying an injured girl home, then head to Keterburg Port for another scene. Finally, go the the Chesedonia bar and speak to the bartender to get the title.

HOPELESS DREAMER
I want to fly! Dreams should be chased, no matter how far or where they may lead!
Effect: Changes costume; Increases rate for the Barrier Activation on the Albiore II.
Obtain: After reaching the final save point in the final dungeon, exit out and go to Sheridan. Enter the assembly hall to gain the title.

GOLDEN KNIGHT
The gleam of the sword is reminiscent of a golden knight. A very prestigious title for one who dominates battles.
Effect: Gain 2 Over Limit points every 15 seconds while walking/running.
Obtain: Complete the Advanced Coliseum Single Battle with Guy.

ABYSS ORANGE
O-orange...? Weren't there any other colors?
Effect: Changes costume.
Obtain: After the Absorption Gate and finding Peony's rappigs, speak to the maid in Peony's chambers. (2nd playthrough onwards)

FONTECH SCHOLAR
Wow, fontech! A title for people who get all worked up over fontech.
Effect: Increase Item Making level by 1 at Din's shop after reaching the highest class for an item.
Obtain: First get Luke's "Financial Investor" title, complete the "Ant Lion Man" sub-quest, the "Engeve Monster Extermination" and "Engeve Farm" quests, and lastly the "Yulia City Allocation" (where you give the guy in Yulia City items) quest. Then fly out to Sheridan and go to the lower right corner in the northeast section. A cutscene initiates and you get the title afterwards.

DASHING GENT
Style isn't all about appearances. It comes from within. Clothing is not just put on. It must be worn.
Effect: Changes costume.
Obtain: The completion of the Jozette & Aslan sub-quest which is divided into five parts. First, once the Rugnica Plains fall into the Qliphoth, visit Engeve. Perform the necessary fetch requests (ie. Going to Kaitzur to speak with the Count, then back to Engeve, etc. etc.). The first part finishes with you speaking to Cecille at the Kaitzur Port. Then, after the Peace Treaty signing, head to Kaitzur Port. Speaking to Cecille here finishes the second part of the sub-quest. Next, enter the Baticul harbor after the Absorption Gate to finish the third part of the quest. After Frings dies, go back to the Baticul harbor again and talk to Cecille. Now all that's left is the Rem Tower! After completing the Tower of Rem, go back. Speak to Cecille, and you get the title after the cutscenes.
